The current COVID-19 pandemic we are facing is having a wide and vast effect on our day to day lives, both personally and at work. As a personal injury solicitor here at Farleys, our department is still running business as usual however it’s important to recognise that the current situation will have an effect on the way that personal claims are progressed, and our immediate aim is to maintain our service to our clients and ensure that all matters can proceed with the minimum delay.

For matters where court proceedings have been issued, modern technology is assisting in being able to conduct remote hearings where possible via telephone and video link.  The Courts and Tribunals Judiciary has published a protocol to aid civil courts in conducting remote hearings during the COVID-19 outbreak.

For those matters where court proceedings are not underway, or needed, as expected insurance companies are facing huge volumes of claims in relation to coronavirus, which can have a knock on effect of the issuing of payments in relation to personal injury claims. To some extent these delays are understandable but in circumstances of essential need, there maybe steps that can be taken to expedite your claims.

If you are considering making a new claim

There is a saying that “tough times never last but tough people do.” This also applies to those in business. Farleys have been established for over 60 years and this is not the first time as a firm we have seen the country face hardship. In a world where we are seemingly surrounded by news of the Coronavirus and how the future looks bleak, it is sadly expected that many businesses will not survive the pandemic.

In Personal Injury we see increasing amounts of clients being referred to us as a result of solicitors firms going out of business. This is likely to increase. Therefore who you instruct to represent you for a personal injury claim has never been more important. Whilst we expect the volume of new accidents at work, road traffic accidents and public liability claims to decrease because people are a not at work or on the road as a result of the coronavirus pandemic, accidents do still happen.

If you do find yourself involved in an accident, make sure that you choose your solicitor wisely. Here at Farleys we remain open to take calls and instructions on all accidents. Call the team today on 0845 287 0939 or send your enquiry through our online contact form.
