Our firm has been ever expanding since its beginnings  in in 1958 and now spans across six offices in Greater Manchester and Lancashire (Blackburn, Preston, Manchester, Shadsworth, Burnley, and Accrington), employing more than 140 members of staff.

Corporate / Commercial Solicitor (Preston)

We have opportunities in our regional commercial team for corporate and/or commercial Solicitors to join the growing team over in our Preston office.

The successful candidate(s) will have a proven track record in corporate / commercial law (>3 years PQE) and will be able to demonstrate strong technical expertise, excellent client care and interpersonal skills.

You will have experience of private company and asset sales and acquisitions, joint venture / shareholder agreements, commercial contracts and private company reorganisations, and the ability to manage a complex caseload from inception to completion.

Working closely with colleagues across our regional commercial team, you will act for a wide range of business clients across the North West, and nationally, and will also be encouraged to take an active involvement in business development activities, building client relationships and helping to grow our already well-established firm.

Insolvency / Litigation Solicitor (Preston)

The successful candidate will have a proven track record in insolvency and litigation (>4 years PQE) with the following essential experience:

• Corporate and personal insolvency with more experience of contentious insolvency rather than non-contentious insolvency preferred
• Debt recovery
• Director / shareholder disputes
• Commercial litigation disputes

Other advantageous experience would include:

• Director disqualification cases
• Finance litigation
• Property litigation
• Landlord and tenant matters
• Contentious probate

Legal PA / Executive (Manchester)

We are looking for a PA/ Executive Administrator to be based out of our Manchester city centre offices.

Working for one of the firm’s Managing Partners,   this role involves supporting with a wide range of  legal and administration tasks to ensure the smooth running of the department.  This is more than an administrative/typing role and you will be an integral part of the success of the team going forward. Typical duties include (but are not limited to):

–  File management – opening and closing,  correspondence and archiving
–  Production and filing of documents such as managing and making Stamp Duty Land Tax (SDLT) returns, Land Registry applications, searches and completion statements
–  Liaison with clients and third parties on matters, including letters, emails and telephone calls
–  Financial administration such as billing and interaction with our accounts department
–  Other administrative tasks as required such as incoming post and diary management.

What we are looking for
We’re looking for someone motivated and used to working in a busy, fast paced environment.  You will be  proactive and personable and someone who will work as part of a wider team to deliver exceptional client service.   Candidates will also have:

–   Previous experience working within a legal environment
–   Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word and Excel), and experience using a case management system (preferred but not essential).
–  Ability to manage administrative tasks in an efficient and effective manner
–  Strong organisational skills and high attention to detail
–  Good communication skills, both verbal and written
–  Experience in commercial and/or residential property transactions

Paralegal – Insolvency / Commercial Litigation (Preston)

Role: Paralegal
Location:  Charnley House,  13 Winckley Square, Preston, PR1 3JJ
Salary: Competitive, commensurate with experience

We are currently looking to recruit a paralegal to join our rapidly growing insolvency and commercial litigation department, based out of our Winckley Square offices in Preston.

This is an exciting opportunity to be involved in a wide range of personal and corporate insolvency matters as well as working on high value and complex commercial litigation cases. The role would suit someone who is looking to start out their career in law getting real, on the job experience in our busy team.  The successful candidate will carry out a wide range of tasks, including but not limited to:

  • Working efficiently and effectively in providing legal support to the team in ongoing cases;
  • Liaising with clients
  • Taking new instructions;
  • Research tasks;
  • General administrative tasks and diary management;
  • Contributing towards marketing content for the firm’s website and social media channels

The ideal candidate will be a confident and ambitious team player, and keen to progress in these areas of law.  You will also be adaptable and proactive in prioritising and managing workloads to ensure deadlines are met
