Prenuptial Agreements For Sports Professionals

Prenuptial Agreement Advice for Sports Professionals

Farleys’ Sports Law team understand the unique nature of the careers of sporting professionals and offer advice and services to protect our clients’ interests.

Sporting careers at the highest levels can be highly lucrative yet relatively short-lived. Farleys’ Sports Law solicitors are experienced in providing advice and drafting bespoke prenuptial agreements (or pre-marriage contracts) for our clients.

The specialist advice we offer could help to protect your assets upon the breakdown of a relationship.

In addition to the drafting of pre-nuptial agreements, our sports law team can also offer additional family law services, including representing you in a divorce, the drafting of cohabitation agreements or securing access to children.

Prenuptial agreements and the law

Although not currently enforceable under English Law, a prenuptial agreement drafted by a specialist solicitor can be persuasive evidence to a court showing how a couple intended to split assets prior to becoming married.

Recent case law has highlighted the greater importance courts  are placing upon prenuptial agreements and such recognition and reliance is only expected to be enhanced.

In cases where substantial wealth, property, shares and other assets are involved, individuals are advised to consider their options regarding pre-nuptial agreements and if in doubt, should consult a specialist solicitor for advice.
