At a hearing on the 13th July 2017 at Heywood Coroner’s Court, HM Senior Coroner Ms Kearsley resumed the inquest into the death of Michael Hoolickin. He sadly died on the 17th October 2016 having been murdered by Timothy Deakin outside a pub in Middleton, Manchester.

Although the criminal proceedings resulted in a conviction for murder, there are matters that the family want considered at the inquest in relation to National Probation Service’s involvement in the supervision of Mr Deakin prior to the tragic incident that lead to Michael Hoolickin’s death.

His parents, Garry and Lesley, said on behalf of the family,

“We have a number of questions we want answers to and we hope that we will get answers to those questions during the inquest process. We want to make sure that any lessons that need to be learned are learned so that no other family has to go through this. We won’t be making any further comment at this time.”

The family is represented by Kelly Darlington of Farleys Solicitors LLP and Una Morris of Garden Court Chambers
