Former Saints’ Coach, Bob Higgins of Lichfield Road, Southampton has been charged with 65 counts of child sexual abuse.

Higgins, 64 is due to appear at Southampton Magistrates Court on the 20th July 2017 after being charged with a string of indecent assault offences against 23 victims.

Hampshire Constabulary have indicated that the charges relate to offences committed against teenage boys dating back to the 1980s and 1990s.

Football clubs have a duty of care towards children who play for them and the law stipulates that the club must provide a safe environment at all times. Any breaches in this can lead to compensation claims being made against them.

Abuse can come in the form of physical, emotional or sexual abuse.

Even if the abuse happened many years ago, a claim for historic child abuse in football can still be made.  The effects of abuse during childhood never truly go away, but sometimes pursuing a claim can often bring a sense of closure for victims.

Here at Farleys Solicitors we specialise and represent many victims who have been abused in the football and sporting world.  We have an experienced and dedicated abuse team who are prepared to speak with you in the strictest of confidence.
