No matter how cautious we are in life accidents can still happen. It can be difficult to know if you can claim for an accident so we’ve pulled together a list of the three most common types of accident that qualify for compensation claims.

Road Traffic Accidents

Regardless of how careful you are on the roads, there are always others who aren’t. The biggest cause of personal injury claims come from car, bike and motorcycle crashes and collisions. Injuries involving whiplash, broken bones or worse can be claimed for as a driver, passenger or as a motorcyclist.

But they were uninsured drivers?

You can still make a claim against drivers that were uninsured or ‘hit and run’ drivers through the Motor Insurers Bureau. Find out more about the Motor Insurers Bureau here.

Accidents at work

Your employer legally has a duty to protect you whilst at work and is expected to tell you about health and safety issues that will affect you.

If you’ve had an accident or been injured at work you may want to make a claim. Your claim must be made within three years of the date of the incident so it’s important to seek legal advice as soon as possible.

Accidents in public places

Retailers must adhere to strict Health and Safety procedures to keep their premises safe for you to shop in, so if you’ve been injured in an accident on a retailer’s premises you may be able to make a claim for compensation. In many cases the accident could have been avoided if the store had taken better care.

Retailers are responsible for ensuring staff are trained accordingly and have procedures in place to keep stores and supermarkets clean and safe.
