Our client, Mr H*, contacted Farleys Solicitors after being the victim of medical negligence at his local hospital.
Mr H was admitted to hospital suffering chest pains. He was diagnosed with unstable angina and taken for surgery. During his surgery, a drug was supposed to be administered into Mr H’s vein through a cannula. In this instance, the cannula malfunctioned and tissued. As a result, our client suffered a heart attack and was admitted to intensive care. Fortunately, he survived but is suffering long lasting effects of the mistake for which the hospital trust has admitted liability.
Mr H was unable to return to the flat in which he lived alone due to him being unable to manage the stairs which were the only way to access the flat. He moved into his partner’s home and she provided care for him. He suffered continuous chest pains and fatigue and took early retirement due to being unable to continue with the manual side of his work. He later moved into a more accessible flat, once again living alone.
After being instructed to act on behalf of Mr H in a claim for medical negligence against the hospital trust, Farleys’ experienced team worked to establish that, had it not been for the negligent care in the administering of the cannula, our client would not have suffered a heart attack and the subsequent health issues and difficulties.
