Family lawyers at Farleys Solicitors are bracing themselves for what is now referred to as ‘Divorce Monday’, as huge numbers of couples take the decision to end their marriages as the Christmas holidays take their toll.

Christmas can be a stressful time for many families. Couples can begin to become disenchanted with their partner at any time of the year but in the run-up to Christmas there are many distractions that mean dealing with that situation gets put on to the back-burner. If there are children then there may be added reluctance to separate before ‘the big day’. However, once the festivities are over, proceeding with a divorce or separation can find its way on to the New Year’s Resolution list.

Antonia Love, head of family law at Farleys comments:

“It can be very difficult to be full of festive cheer when there are difficulties within a relationship; especially as such problems often seem only to intensify at this time of the year. Whether after Christmas or not, separation is a life-changing event and it is essential to make that decision for the right reasons. Whenever that time may be, Farleys’ family law team have the experience and understanding to help you”

Free Family Law Clinic

Farleys’ free family law clinic has been running for a couple of years now from the firm’s offices in Blackburn, Accrington and Burnley offices to serve local families. The drop in clinic offers short, 15 minute meetings with members of the family law team who can give advice to couples and families considering divorce, child custody and other matters. The clinic runs every Thursday from 4pm-6pm with the first one of the New Year being the 5th of January 2017.

Case Management Meetings

For those requiring a more in depth meeting with a family law solicitor, Farleys’ case management meetings are the ideal solution. Unlike the drop in clinic, these meetings are booked in advance and charged at a fixed fee of £300 + VAT per meeting. For your money, you will get a one hour meeting with a qualified lawyer where you will be able to discuss your case in detail. Your lawyer will then advise you on the options available and the next steps you can take.
