Divorce and separation are rarely easy, but they don’t have to mean conflict, stress and lengthy court battles. That’s why we’re proud to support Resolution’s Good Divorce Week, taking place from 10-14 November 2025.

Good Divorce Week is an annual campaign that highlights the importance of a non-confrontational approach to divorce and separation—one that puts families first, minimises conflict, and helps people find a better way forward.

What is Good Divorce Week?

Good Divorce Week is organised by Resolution, the membership body representing 6,500 family justice professionals across England and Wales. Resolution members follow a Code of Practice that promotes constructive, respectful approaches to resolving family issues.

This year’s Good Divorce Week celebrates the Year of the Code, shining a light on exactly what sets Resolution members apart and why choosing a Resolution solicitor makes such a difference when you’re going through separation.

Why Resolution Membership Matters

As Resolution members, our family law team follows a Code of Practice that commits us to:

Putting families first. We always consider the needs of the whole family, especially any children involved. We support and encourage families to put the best interests of children first in every decision.

Reducing conflict. We help you find constructive ways to resolve issues without inflammatory language or unnecessary confrontation. Where possible, we help you avoid lengthy court processes that can damage relationships and increase stress.

Providing honest, clear advice. We act with integrity and objectivity, helping you understand the long-term financial and emotional consequences of decisions. We explain all your options in straightforward language, so you can make informed choices about your future.

Treating everyone with respect. We listen to you and treat everyone involved with respect, without judgement. Even during difficult times, we believe in maintaining dignity and fairness.

The Challenge Facing Families Today

This year’s Good Divorce Week also draws attention to a serious problem affecting separating couples across the country—overwhelming delays in the family court system.

Right now, over 1,000 new cases are starting in the family court every working day. The average length of cases has increased by 36% since 2018, rising from 26 weeks to 41 weeks. These delays place enormous strain on families at an already difficult time.

Resolution is calling on the Government to invest in early legal information and advice, so couples have the best chance of reducing conflict and, where possible, avoiding lengthy court processes altogether.

As Resolution members, we see first-hand how early, constructive legal advice can make all the difference. When couples get the right support at the right time, they’re far more likely to reach agreements that work for everyone—especially the children.

There is a Better Way

At Farleys, we’re here to support you through separation with care, understanding and practical advice. Whether you’re considering divorce, negotiating financial arrangements, or making decisions about children, we’ll help you find the approach that’s right for your family.

We believe divorce doesn’t have to mean conflict. There is a better way—one that puts respect, communication and children’s wellbeing first.

During Good Divorce Week and throughout the year, we’re committed to helping families find constructive, non-confrontational solutions that allow everyone to move forward with dignity.
