Colleagues from across Farleys once again took to the streets of Manchester on Sunday 31 May, proudly participating in the Great Manchester Run and raising vital funds for Derian House Children’s Hospice.

Continuing a tradition that has spanned more than a decade, Team Farleys combined fitness, camaraderie and fundraising by entering both the 10k and half marathon races. This year, fourteen runners represented the firm: Alice Wood (10K), Amy Jones (half marathon), Anna Billingsley (half marathon), Cliona Carey (10K), David Corrigan (10K), Eve Abdel-Moneim (half marathon), Finn Hubble (10K), Freya Aughton (10K), Hannah Mayle (10K), Katie Sharples (10K), Katy Dunn (10K), Kelly Darlington (half marathon), Megan Billington (10K), and Paige Taylor (10K).

Through their fundraising efforts, the team raised an impressive £1,500 via JustGiving. This total was generously match funded by The Farleys Foundation, bringing the final amount raised to £3,000.

The funds will directly support Derian House’s “Derian Mums” programme, which provides ongoing support for current service users and bereaved mothers. Each month, the group comes together to take part in activities, trips or sessions designed to help them build supportive relationships, take respite from daily challenges, and experience opportunities they might not otherwise be able to access.

The aim of the programme is to provide a safe and welcoming space where mums can connect with others who understand their experiences, while also engaging in creative, relaxing or empowering activities. Planned events currently include a spa trip, a rage room experience, and pottery classes, giving participants a chance to unwind, express themselves and try something new.

Ellie Leavesley, community fundraiser at Derian House Children’s Hospice commented,

We are incredibly grateful to Team Farleys for their efforts undertaking this challenge and raising a phenomenal £3,000 for our children and their families. Each year it costs £6m to run services at Derian House Children’s Hospice and we receive 30% funding from statutory sources, so we rely heavily on the generosity of teams like Farleys Solicitors to help us keep our doors open to those who need us.

Over the years, Team Farleys has raised tens of thousands of pounds for a wide range of charitable causes, and this latest effort is another testament to the firm’s ongoing commitment to supporting local communities.
