Action for Brain Injury Week 2024 kicks off today (Monday, 20th May) with Headway launching their “A life re-written” campaign. This initiative seeks to spotlight the way a brain injury can affect anyone at any time, focusing particularly on how it throws plans into disarray, changes life goals, and even the sense of who we are.
Headway, a prominent brain injury charity in the UK, is encouraging creativity in how people share their stories. Whether through artwork, videos, poems, or podcasts, participants can express their journeys in ways that resonate most with them.
These submissions will be showcased throughout the week, highlighting that no two brain injury experiences are the same. This campaign aims to challenge misconceptions and educate the public about the vast impacts of brain injuries.
Among the activities, Headway is also promoting local events across the UK. From community gatherings to educational seminars, these events are designed to raise awareness and provide support networks for those affected by brain injuries.
Farleys Solicitors have long been supporters of Headway, receiving accreditation from the charity since 2017. We have acted on behalf of many head injury survivors securing millions of pounds in compensation and allowing them to move on with their lives.
We recently acted in a brain injury case for Mrs Q, a pedestrian crossing a road in Lancashire when she was struck by a vehicle whose driver was not paying proper attention to the road. Mrs Q was airlifted from the scene of the accident by the air ambulance and was taken to hospital. Where she was found to have a bleed on the brain.
Nick Molyneux, a head injury specialist and partner at Farleys, commented,
I have supported many clients who have sustained head injuries from serious accidents and medical negligence. Still in 2024, the true effects of a brain injury are hard to understand. Those affected by brain injuries may experience a range of symptoms, from memory loss and difficulties with anger management to concentration issues and sleep disturbances. Here at Farleys, we pride ourselves on our level of support to those suffering the debilitating symptoms of a brain injury.
