Solicitor Clare Foster, from Farleys’ highly respected family law department, appeared on Radio Lancashire yesterday as part of a feature on divorce and family law matters entitled ‘Breaking Up Is Hard to Do’.
The live interview, which was part of John Gillmore’s afternoon show on the BBC station, was based around research that 40% of relationships are more likely to end in January than any other time of year.
“We do see a rise in enquiries at this time of year”, commented Clare during the interview.
“The festive period, during which couples spend seven days with each other without having to go to work, can be the straw that breaks the camels back for relationships which are already under strain”.
Other topics covered included how children fare during divorce and advice for couples on how to remain amicable during a separation. Pre-nuptial agreements, which have been in the news recently following the Law Commission’s announcement that they will begin a consultation on the matter, were also discussed.
If you missed the show, you can listen again via the BBC website. The interview with Clare begins seven minutes into the broadcast.
