Burnley BuisnessFarleys’ highly regarded Abuse Claims department have been shortlisted for ‘The Innovation of the Year’ at the acclaimed Burnley Business Awards following the launch of their online chat facility. The awards recognise the success and entrepreneurial spirit of local businesses throughout Burnley and Padiham.

After witnessing a 40% increase in the number of abuse cases reported, the department identified a gap in the legal market in relation to helping clients come forward and make that initial first step of contacting a solicitor. Through the launch of an anonymous online chat facility the department reinvented the traditional forms of communication that exist between law firms and clients in what is an extremely sensitive and emotive area of law.

Partner and head of Abuse Claims, Jonathan Bridge commented on the nomination: “We are delighted to have been shortlisted for the Burnley Business Awards, especially being the only legal firm to be included in the innovation category.

“Having worked closely with victims involved in high profile scandals such as the Rochdale sex trafficking ring, it is evident that more must be done to help the victims. Coming forward and finally speaking out is often the hardest step victims face, and we are proud that the steps we have taken to facilitate this process have been recognised.”

Following the publication of the shortlisted companies, all of the shortlisted finalists were invited to give a formal presentation in front of a judging pane. The final results will be announced at a grand awards ceremony on the 11th of June held in the stunning grounds of Towneley Hall. For a full listing of all the categories and finalists, see here.
