A number of departments at Farleys have received national recognition following the release of the Chambers and Partners guide to the legal profession for 2016. The firm’s personal injury, abuse claims, family, general crime and serious crime departments have all received a mention. Established in 1990 the accredited guide is globally recognised for its comprehensive and impartial perspective on the legal profession.
It has been another strong year for the firm; with the Chambers guide rankings coming only weeks after an impressive set of results in the Legal 500 were revealed.
Special commendation is due for the Criminal department who were placed in band one in the UK – wide Financial Crime category. The team was applauded for their work in numerous Fraud matters, specialising in large-scale HMRC prosecutions. Partner and head of Fraud and Business Crime Paul Schofield was listed as a notable practitioner, recognised for his work representing clients in high profile fraud cases. In particular Paul was praised for his ability to “build an extremely good relationship with the client” as well as the meticulous “attention to detail” he applies to each case.
The general crime team also received a band one ranking for Manchester and the surrounding areas, praised for their consistent standards of excellence in criminal defence matters. Jonathan Taylor was listed as a key contact, marking further recognition of his individual contribution to the practice of criminal law.
