Mark Skinner, Associate Partner and Personal Insolvency Solicitor at Farleys, has joined the board of trustees at Citizens Advice Bury and Bolton.
Citizens Advice runs a network of 316 independent charities across the UK. Founded in 1939, the organisation has grown to become the largest advice provider in the UK and has also expanded to other countries around the world.
The Bury and Bolton Districts have recently merged in order to pool resources and provide a top level service, offering free, impartial advice to local people on a wide variety of enquiries including welfare benefits and debt advice.
Mark, who previously worked for the Citizens Advice Bureau for a number of years, commented,
I am pleased to be helping what is now Citizens Advice Bury and Bolton (CABB), deliver high quality, impartial and confidential advice to the community. It is particularly satisfying working as a Trustee as Bury CAB was where I started my career, giving advice at the Bureau firstly as a volunteer during my legal studies but then as a paid benefits and debt advisor – many years ago!
Mike Wolfe, Chair of Citizens Advice Bury & Bolton, commented;
“Following their recent merger, Citizens Advice Bury and Bolton are delighted to have Mark Skinner as a Board member.
“Mark’s background as an advice worker and now a solicitor make his contribution invaluable in terms of experience and professional practice.
“Citizens Advice exists to serve everyone, whatever their problem. Our charity requires professionalism in its governance and our highly qualified staff find the perspective from the non-executive support of people like Mark invaluable. In addition, his membership of our Board helps us to network with the business community of which he is a part.
“We are grateful to Farleys for allowing Mark to make this contribution and to the other ways in which they support our work. Theirs is a fine example of business working for the good of the whole community.”
