The Legal 500 Northern Powerhouse Awards return for their third year, and we’re delighted to have been shortlisted in two key categories. The firm’s crime team is in the running for Crime Firm of the Year, while Partner Bridgette Hibbert has been recognised with a nomination for Crime Lawyer of the Year.

With a history spanning four decades, Farleys’ crime department has built a strong reputation for handling serious and complex cases nationwide. The team is Lexcel-accredited, holds long-standing contracts with the Legal Aid Agency, and is widely respected within the industry and amongst their peers. They are consistently ranked in the top band in the Legal 500 and Chambers and Partners Guides, having received comments such as “This is a regional firm with a nationwide reach. Farleys provide exceptional support to the client. Nothing is too much trouble; the team are proactive in case preparation and any stone that can be turned over that might help will be turned over.”

The team houses a range of specialists in areas including high-value fraud, major drug conspiracies, and white-collar business crime. Known for their tenacity and expertise, the team continues to thrive, adapting to the challenges of criminal defence work.

Bridgette Hibbert, a partner with over 20 years of experience, has been acknowledged for her expertise in serious fraud, complex crime, and Proceeds of Crime applications. A Grade A VHCC Supervisor and duty solicitor, she has extensive experience in high-value Trading Standards cases and is highly regarded within the legal profession for her meticulous approach and strong advocacy.

Speaking about the shortlisting, Bridgette said,

I’m incredibly proud that our crime team has been recognised in these awards. The landscape of criminal defence is constantly evolving, but our commitment to providing the highest level of representation remains unchanged. It’s a privilege to work alongside such a dedicated and skilled team. To be nominated personally is also a huge honour, and I’m grateful to be recognised among such esteemed professionals.
