Last weekend our very own Personal Insolvency Solicitor Mark Skinner took to the Professional Footballers Association to teach footballers a thing or two about managing their finances.
The Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA) is the world’s longest established professional sportsperson’s union. The aims of the PFA are to protect, improve and negotiate the conditions, rights and status of all professional players by collective bargaining agreements.
Mark was asked to speak at the PFA’s ‘Making the Transition’ workshop weekend which teaches footballers who are leaving the profession how to manage their finances and avoid debt problems. Mark’s session focused on money management and the financial steps required when leaving the profession, including budgeting and spending habits. Mark also provided advice on what to do if money problems do arise and tips on how to best deal with debt.
Mark Skinner commented on the programme:
“It’s important that footballers are aware of the help that is available to them and also that they’re educated on the financial changes they’ll be required to make when leaving the sport. This can be a difficult time and it’s critical footballers receive the support they need.”
