Inquests

Inquest Solicitors

Farleys Solicitors' nationwide Inquest practice represents families at all types of Inquests including where the death has occurred,

  • In Prison
  • In Hospital or a Psychiatric Hospital
  • Has Involved the Police
  • Has Involved Any Other Detaining Authority

Dealing with the loss of a loved one is tragic in any circumstances but when faced with difficult and distressing circumstances involving the state, it is important that you are able to participate effectively in the Inquest process.  Family and friends often have numerous questions and concerns surrounding a death and it is important for them that their voices can be heard.  Our aim is to give them the chance to participate effectively in this process.  Many times people want an explanation of the  circumstances in which their loved one died and to know that lessons can be learnt.

We help families immediately following a death by liasing with all the investigating authorities whether this be HM Coroner, the Prisons and Probation Ombudsman, the Independent Police Complaints Commission or an NHS Trust.

During the Inquest itself we ensure that you are represented by experienced advocates and if necessary are able to advise on the need for independent expert evidence.  Quite often these cases attract media attention and again advice can be given on how to deal with the situation.

Following the Inquest we can then advise of any other forms of redress that may be available.
