FARLEYS has boosted its partnership with the appointment of Debbie King as an equity partner.

Debbie King, from Rossendale, joined the firm on a training contract in 1997 after graduating from Manchester University.

She initially worked on general commercial and commercial property cases before helping to develop a dedicated corporate department specialising in company takeovers, sales, restructures, joint ventures and mergers in 2003.

Debbie’s husband, Rob Bridges, gave up work following the birth of the couple’s two sons; Jacob and Toby, to allow Debbie to continue working full time at Farleys.

Debbie, who was short listed for the Corporate Lawyer of the Year award at the 2006 North West Business Insider Dealmaker of the Year Awards, said:

“I am excited by the opportunity to become an equity partner at one of the leading law firms in the North West. The challenge of continuing to develop and expand the commercial department is one that I am really looking forward to.”

Chris Porter, Farleys’ commercial law partner, added:

“Debbie has played an integral part in the development of Farleys’ commercial department and I would like to congratulate her on this appointment. I look forward to the continued development of the corporate department under her leadership.”

Farleys’ general commercial, corporate, insolvency, commercial property, employment and commercial litigation departments have been based at Shadsworth Business Park since 2006. The firm has seven offices across the region, 14 partners and over 180 staff, including over 80 lawyers.
