FARLEYS has been praised by the Blackburn Civic Society for refurbishing an eyesore in the town.

Farleys Solicitors was highly commended in Blackburn Civic Society’s awards ceremony for its efforts in refurbishing the Limbrick building on the corner of Richmond Terrace.

The privately owned building had become rundown and was covered in graffiti and fly posters creating a poor impression of the area to people turning onto Tontine Street. Farleys bought the property and extended their existing office at 1-2 Richmond Terrace into it.

Des Draper, Farleys’ civil litigation partner, believes the refurbished building now portrays the right image for Blackburn’s thriving professional community. He said:

“We were concerned by the appearance of the Limbrick building and felt if it was left any longer it would start to affect the condition of our office as the roof was rotting. We decided the best option was to buy the building and extend our offices into it.

“It is unusual for a law firm to win a refurbishment award, but we are delighted with both the recognition, and the results of the work carried out at the building.”
