Most recently the team has succeeded in helping to secure a substantial settlement for a Client W who sustained life changing injuries following a collision.
In May 2013, whilst out riding his motorbike, Client W suffered a serious road traffic accident. The third party pulled straight out of a side road into his path giving him no chance of avoiding a collision. He suffered a traumatic amputation of his lower leg at the scene and was airlifted to a local hospital.
Farleys took on the case as specialists in this area when the client was dissatisfied with the initial advice he received from his usual Solicitor.
Farleys quickly obtained evidence in relation to liability particularly from various witnesses to the accident and from the Police who prepared a full Investigation Report. Within 6 months of the accident occurring an offer of £500,000.00 in compensation had been secured.
On the basis of our advice the client rejected this offer and evidence was quickly obtained from numerous different sources including medical consultants, accommodation experts, prosthetic experts, consulting engineers and physiotherapists.
Within 19 months of the accident occurring the client’s case was ready for trial and at a Joint Settlement Meeting the Defendant was persuaded to increase their initial offer of £500,000 to an eventual settlement sum of £1,270,000.
The particularly pleasing aspect of this case was that settlement was achieved relatively quickly. Claims of this nature are often complex but at Farleys we appreciate the need for clients to receive their monies without delay. This is the second similar motorcycle accident dealt with recently by Partner, Jonathan Bridge, where damages substantially in excess of £1,000,000.00 have been recovered for our clients.
