LEADING Lancashire law firm, Farleys Solicitors, has welcomed back a former employee as its civil litigation department looks to expand.

28-year-old Maria Balazs, from Preston, who specialises in personal injury claims and accidents at work, left the firm in January 2005 to join local firm, C Turner Solicitors.

She has rejoined Farleys’ Richmond Terrace office as a civil litigation solicitor in a team led by partner Des Draper.

Maria said: “The personal injury claims industry has changed significantly in the past few years with people now less likely to use a faceless no-win no-fee outfit, instead preferring to deal with a law firm they can trust and interact face-to-face with an experienced solicitor.

“There have been very few personnel changes in the civil litigation team since I left, so I am looking forward to fitting back in quickly and helping people across Lancashire make claims for accidents they have been involved in.”

Maria, who holds a Masters degree in Criminology, Rights and Justice, has previously worked for the Crown Prosecution Service and Backhouse Jones Solicitors.

Farleys Solicitors was established in Blackburn in the mid 1950s and is now one of the largest law firms in Lancashire. It has seven offices across the region, 14 partners and over 175 staff, including 75 lawyers.

The firm works with businesses and members of the public, providing legal advice on issues including personal injury, civil litigation, criminal, family, company commercial including employment law, probate, and personal and commercial conveyancing.
