THE EXPANSION of a Glossop businesswoman’s nursery empire has been assisted by two leading firms of professional advisers in East Lancashire.
Nicola Fussell and her husband Dominic, a director of the Rossendale-based Hurstwood Group, have bought their fourth children’s nursery in a £450,000 acquisition with help from Blackburn-based Farleys Solicitors and Pierce Chartered Accountants.
Hadfield House day nursery in Glossop was established in 1997 and currently cares for 70 babies and children up to 11 years old.
It was sold by Terence Shortt and Carol Fitzgibbon and adds to the other nurseries in Nicola’s portfolio: the Charlesworth nursery and garden centre in Glossop, Fairfield infant and nursery school in Buxton, and Thornsett day nursery in New Mills.
Nicola said: “The nursery was generating a healthy income for its previous owners, and as the building already has planning permission I am confident we will be able to increase the number of children we care for and the facilities we offer them – which will enhance their learning and development.”
Farleys company law partner Debbie King advised Nicola and Dominic Fussell on the legal aspects of the acquisition and the formation of a new Limited Company, Springfield (Hadfield House) Limited.
Debbie said: “Nicola never ceases to amaze me as she runs a busy household with four children and somehow manages four nurseries effortlessly and with a constant smile on her face.
It is always a pleasure to work with Nicola and I wish her well with this new venture and her future business plans.”
Pierce Chartered Accountants director Simon Baxendale also provided corporate finance advice to the couple. He added: “It is great to see a business doing well, especially one where the owners have worked so hard to make it a success. We wish Nicola all the best.”
Funding was provided by the Preston branch of NatWest and the sellers were represented by Robert Fleming of Albert Newton & Co Solicitors in Stockport.
