Farleys has launched a helpline that allows those struggling with family law issues to access an appraisal of their circumstances free of charge.  The family law helpline allows clients who would otherwise struggle to obtain legal advice in relation to their issue a telephone appointment with a legal advisor. Free fifteen minute face-to-face meetings are also available three days a week (Monday, Wednesday and Friday) at our office on Richmond Terrace in Blackburn.

The new service has been set up in response to an increase in demand following changes to the law affecting the availability of Legal Aid. Since 1st April 2013, access to Legal Aid for family law issues has become dramatically restricted. Legal Aid is only now available to those clients that meet the financial criteria and in addition, are either involved with social services and/or can prove occurrence/risk of domestic violence or abuse in the home. Antonia Love, Head of Family Law at Farleys in Blackburn, commented:

“The change to the availability of Legal Aid for family law advice is already having a big impact on families. Rather than have people in the local area feeling alone and unable to afford advice, we have set up these free appointments, which can be attended either at our office or over the phone, to provide a helping hand at what is often an extremely difficult time.

“If the client then decides that they require further legal advice or representation in the matter, we have a number of affordable fixed fee options available.”
