An increase in demand for the expertise of Farleys’ family law team has been met by a further expansion of the department.
The firm welcomed back former employee Ruth Whittingham earlier in the year to specifically assist the family law team at its new Manchester office.
Ruth, from Thornham, rejoined Farleys as an assistant solicitor after two years at another leading Manchester firm.
Ruth specialises in financial matters relating to divorce and separation, and is working with family law partner Antonia Love to further develop the existing Cheshire and Greater Manchester client base from the firm’s office in Parsonage Gardens.
Also securing a permanent contract with Farleys, after providing maternity leave cover for the firm, is Nicola Rushton, from Rossendale.
Nicola has previously spent over 20 years at a Rawtenstall practice and three other local Lancashire firms. She specialises in all aspects of family law including divorce, Children’s Act matters and financial disputes including complicated asset division and pension claims. Nicola has also worked with local women’s refuges and Citizen’s Advice Bureaus, offering legal advice to vulnerable clients.
Head of the family law team, Antonia Love, said: “We have seen a massive increase in people enquiring about issues surrounding family law in the past 18 months and so felt it was important we appointed some very talented individuals to help the department continue to offer a good quality, personal service to clients across the North West.
In addition to Ruth and Nicola’s appointments, we have also promoted Laura Regan and Nabeala Fiaz to trainee solicitor positions, and appointed Gemma Nuttall and Naomi Pottinger as paralegals.
We feel that with the team we now have in place, we can remain one of the leading family law departments in the North West.”
