Ms G approached Farleys’ personal injury team about the possibility of making a claim for compensation after suffering injury following an accident in her home.

Background

Ms G had hired an external company to come into her home to fit a new kitchen, new bathroom, and to install insulation.

During the course of completing this, the workers had laid down carpet protectors on the stairs of the house. However, the carpet protectors had not been placed properly and Ms G caught her leg on it when walking down the stairs, tripping and landing on the stone floor.

Ms G suffered injury to her legs and knees including extensive bruising.

How Farleys were able to help

Ms G instructed Nick Molyneux and his personal injury team at Farleys to pursue a claim against the company for their negligence in safely laying down the carpet protectors. The company disputed fault for the accident so our team arranged a site visit and instructed experts to establish liability.

During the course of the claim, the company went into liquidation but we continued to pursue the claim, this time against the firm’s insurance company.

Our team successfully achieved a settlement of £4,000 in damages for Ms G.

Nick Molyneux commented,

What originally started as a potentially straightforward personal injury claim was made significantly more complex by the liquidation of the company we were pursuing on behalf of our client.

“We are pleased to have been able to secure such a settlement for Ms G under the circumstances.”
