Background
In June of 2015 we were approached by Client L who indicated that he had also suffered abuse whilst a pupil at Stone Cross in the 1970s.
Client L described abuse that was consistent with the other claims that we had dealt with mentioning Gordon Clark as a perpetrator.
How Farleys Were Able to Help
Farleys agreed to act on behalf of Client L despite the significant difficulties in relation to limitation. Client L was over 30 years out of time in bringing the claim but with supportive evidence it was successfully argued that he had good reasons from a psychological perspective as to why he could not come forward sooner.
The Defendants in the claim agreed to meet and medical evidence was obtained. This highlighted various possible causation issues although it was suggested that Client L had suffered a long term psychiatric injury because of the childhood abuse whilst at Stone Cross School. Various records were obtained and reviewed to corroborate the claim including educational records, GP records and Social Services records.
Following two years work and lengthy discussions with the Defendants a Joint Settlement Meeting eventually took place at which Client L accepted an offer of £75,000 from the Defendants for the psychiatric injury and associated losses that he suffered whilst a pupil at Stone Cross School.
Client L expressed his delight at the settlement achieved and the fact that it now provided some closure for the experiences he had endured whilst a pupil at Stone Cross.
