Jonathan Bridge of Farleys Abuse Department specialises in claims following abuse by paedophile gangs and has represented many Rochdale victims.
We have recently settled the first claim we are aware of that was brought by a male victim of the gangs in Rochdale.
Client P approached Farleys in July of 2014. He reported a relatively normal childhood until he was taken into the care of Rochdale Council and placed in Children’s Homes within the Rochdale area.
He then described a terrible history of grooming and exploitation by gangs. He was sexually abused and little or nothing was done by the Council to intervene and protect him even though he was in their care.
Medical evidence was sought from an experienced psychiatrist and the clients full Social Services records, GP and Hospital records and educational records were obtained and considered. The Claimant had ongoing psychiatric symptoms and following protracted negotiation with the Defendant the sum of £85,000 in damages was secured on behalf of Client P. In addition the costs that he incurred in bringing the claim were met in full by the Defendants.
The settlement provides Client P with much needed monies to assist partly in relation to the earnings that he has lost whilst being unable to work because of the psychiatric consequences of the abuse and partly to help with much needed treatment.
Client P commented “It is a huge relief to conclude this successfully and to obtain damages to cover much needed treatment costs”
