Our Family Law department have expanded their existing rota of Family Law services in response to an increase in enquiries after the Christmas period.
Statistics released reveal that enquiries to law firms regarding divorce increase up to 27% in January compared to the general monthly average, as the intensity and pressure of the festive period forces couples to delay the difficult decision until after Christmas. The family law team at our Accrington, Burnley, and Blackburn offices have extended the operating hours for their free family law clinic to cope with the demand. The clinic will take place each Thursday from 4:00pm-6:30pm throughout January, operating on a drop in basis.
Antonia Love, Partner and Head of Family Law at Farleys Solicitors LLP said : “We have noticed an increase in enquiries regarding divorce or separation following the reopening of our offices after the festive period. Having made the difficult decision to separate, it is crucial to obtain legal advice at the earliest possible opportunity, paving the way for the best chance of separating with a partner on amicable terms.”
The level of enquiries this January is expected to be higher than ever, as high levels of debt place additional strain on struggling relationships. Reports indicate that personal debt reached its highest level in seven years in November; and this is only expected to increase following Christmas spending. Seeking a route to divorce that is affordable, avoiding court proceedings where possible, is therefore a key priority for many couples facing separation.
