Chartered Legal Executive
A Chartered Legal Executive with several years of experience of working in Family Law. Educated at Bacup & Rawtenstall Grammar School and St John’s College of Law, Nicola qualified in 2001. Initially practising both Family Law and Criminal Law, Nicola has specialised in Family Law for many years – her expertise lies in Financial disputes following relationship breakdown for both married and unmarried couples, including Maintenance, Pension Sharing, and Cohabitee property disputes, complex division of Family business assets & property portfolios. Nicola is also a member of the Law Society’s Family Panel and Resolution.
For a number of years Nicola served as Treasurer for Burnley Women’s Refuge, had close links with the Catholic Children’s Rescue Service and Sunnyside Homeless project in Bacup, she was instrumental in the formation of Rossendale Domestic Violence Forum. Nicola has provided pro-bono advice at a number of venues over the years including Women’s Refuge’s and Citizens Advice Bureaus.
Joining Farleys Family Law Team in 2006 Nicola continues to cover a wide range of Family Law matters with clients instructing her from all over the UK.
Nicola has many high points in her career which include a successful appeal to Court of Appeal in 2001 and a reported case and of which she is very proud. The successful outcome of that appeal had a huge benefit to her client. Added to this Nicola has twice been shortlisted for a National Family Law award as Chartered Legal Executive of the year in 2013 & 2014, shortlisted to the final 4, Nicola feels such nominations made by her clients are a victory in itself.
Nicola has great enthusiasm for the work that she does, taking care to provide support for her clients both through her knowledge of the law and the remedies it provides, and with an holistic approach to such problems.
