Mr L approached Farleys’ personal injury team about the possibility of making a claim for compensation against his employer following an accident at work.

Background

Mr L worked as a paint mixer. At the time of the accident, he was using machinery, trying to lock a cast iron cap onto a pipe. Due to a build-up of fluid pressure within the pipe the cap projected off the pipe, striking him in the face.

He suffered injuries including a cut to his upper lip, minor dental injuries, concussion and exacerbation of his pre-existing anxiety and skin condition.  As a result of his lip injury, he experienced intermittent swelling and numbness in his upper lip for some time.

How Farleys Were Able to Help

Mr L instructed Jade Jump of Farleys’ personal injury team to act on his behalf in a claim against his employer. Mr L’s employer admitted liability at the outset, making the claim more straightforward for all parties.

Jade instructed a medical expert who confirmed his lip injury would last for one year.

Jade entered into negotiations and, just over a year after Mr L’s accident, settled the claim for £6,000. In addition to this, Mr L’s employer also agreed to pay for his dental repair cost and medication expenses.

Jade commented,

This was a relatively standard case of an accident at work caused by unmaintained machinery. I was pleased to have been able to recover damages for Mr L in order to compensate him for his injuries and cover his loss of earnings, medication, and future treatment costs. We wish him all the best.
