Miss E approached Farleys’ personal injury team about the possibility of making a claim for compensation after she was injured in a supermarket.

Background

Miss E was entering a supermarket in Blackburn town centre on foot. As she walked through the entrance towards the flower section, she slipped on the mat which surrounded the flowers. The mat was saturated with water and therefore didn’t grip to the floor. Miss E unfortunately slipped on the mat and fell forwards, landing on her knees.

As a result of her injuries, Miss E required assistance at home from her husband in completing everyday tasks such as housework.

How Farleys Were Able to Help

Miss E instructed Jade Jump, a solicitor in our personal injury department, to act on her behalf in a personal injury claim.

Jade submitted the claim to the supermarket, who admitted they were at fault for Miss E’s accident.

Jade swiftly instructed a medical expert to examine Miss E and prepare a report in relation to her injuries.  The medical expert concluded that Miss E suffered injuries to both knees, her back and associated anxiety.  The expert stated that it would take 7 months for Miss E’s injuries to resolve, with the help of physiotherapy.

Miss E had the recommended physiotherapy and thankfully recovered within 7 months of the accident.  Jade therefore negotiated a settlement of £4,050 which covered Miss E’s injuries and the care and assistance she required from her husband.
