It’s action for brain injury awareness week, a campaign led by the Headway to raise awareness of brain injury and the support available across the UK.

Headway was founded in 1979 and is a UK-wide charity that works to improve quality of life after brain injury. The charity provides support, services and information to brain injury survivors, their family and carers, as well as to professionals in the health and legal fields.

This year Headway is focusing on sport and encouraging people to be concussion aware. The campaign is asking for sports clubs, colleges and universities to sign up and be aware of how to treat participants when concussion is suspected.

Concussion occurs when the brain gets shaken around in the skull following an impact. This shaking can injure the brain, which can result in both immediate and long-term symptoms. While most cases of concussion heal themselves in a couple of weeks and leave no long term damage, there are cases in which complications arise from minor blows to the head, which is why it’s vital that people seek medical attention following a concussion.

If you or someone you know has suffered a concussion due to someone else’s negligence please get in touch. Our experienced personal injury solicitors are happy to discuss your case free of charge and with no obligation. We will offer you a full, honest review of your case, discussing all the options available to you.

Due to the complex nature of head injuries and the amount of variation between each individual case, it is very difficult to summarise the amount of compensation that a brain damage claim could result in. Over the years we have secured millions of pounds for those affected by head injuries, allowing them to move forward with the next phase of their life.
