Lancashire Growth Hub, Boost, has launched a campaign to help grow the economy in the country by £50m by 2018.

#GrowingLancashire has been set up to “advise and assist more than 4,000 businesses” as well as to create 3,000 jobs and help to establish 700 new businesses over two years. The scheme has achieved a wide range of backing including endorsements from Lancashire’s three Chambers of Commerce, Growth Lancashire, the Federation of Small Businesses as well as Downtown Lancashire.

Boost has been established since 2013 and has since provided support for over 2,400 businesses which has also helped to create over 1,200 new jobs. The #GrowingLancashire campaign has been designed to build on this success to become the main point of support for Lancashire businesses. The funded support programmes they offer are the Growth Support Programme, Growth Mentoring, Innovation Clinic, and Access to Finance.

Mike Damms, Chief Executive of East Lancashire Chamber of Commerce stated: “SMEs which have open minds and embrace business support demonstrably perform to a higher level.” So it is hoped that with this extra support, businesses in Lancashire will flourish and boost the local economy significantly. The advice provided for these businesses will be specially tailored in order to provide information that is relevant to them.
