THE Business Crime and Special Casework team has been buoyed by Associate Partner Bridgette Hibbert’s successful qualification to Supervisor and Mike  Brunskill, former partner at Pannone, joining as consultant.

Bridgette joined Farleys in 1999 and has been focused on criminal defence work ever since, her 11 years experience with Farleys has seen her act in several  high profile cases. Defending clients in fraud, confiscation (Proceeds of Crime Act), money laundering and associated restraint matters as well as  conspiracies to supply and import drugs along with other areas of serious and complex crime, Bridgette has amassed a great depth of knowledge over the years.

Her recognition by the Legal Services Commission as a Supervisor specialising in VHCC fraud cases has been well earned, with the position itself only attainable once gaining over 1000 hours in relevant criminal cases.

Bridgette’s success brings the total number of Supervisors now working in the Business Crime and Special Casework team to 4, along with head of the  department, Paul Schofield, and fellow Associate Partners, Kevin Preston and Rachel Adamson.

Talking of her success in attaining Supervisor status, Bridgette says,

“I am extremely pleased with being formally recognised by the LSC, it is a difficult position to reach and is a role that is not only meaningful but  important to my clients who can be assured they are getting the best advice available.’

In addition to Bridgette’s success, the team has been further benefited by the arrival of Mike Brunskill as consultant. Mike, formally a partner a Manchester  law firm Pannone, joins the firm in an advisory capacity and brings his own wealth of knowledge and experience with him.

Well known in the field, Mike has 12 years experience in complex crime, fraud and regulatory work, has also been ranked by Chambers as a ‘Leader in the  Field’ for the second time and is commented by them as being a ‘future big hitter’.

On joining Farleys, Mike says,

“I was delighted when invited to join the Farleys team. The firm has long been an established force throughout the North West and is known to promote the  highest standards of quality and expertise. Since breaking into the Manchester market place in 2006, Farleys have become a leading firm in fraud and  regulatory work.”

Paul, commenting on both Bridgette’s success and the appointment of Mike,

“Bridgette has long been a vital part of the team and her recognition by the LSC is a welcome and much deserved endorsement of her ability. Further  bolstering the talent in the department is Mike Brunskill, who is already widely recognised by his peers for exceptional skill in the area of criminal  defence of complex and serious cases.

Bringing the total number of Supervisors in the team to 4 and with 2 acknowledged ‘Leaders in the Field’, our commendations prove Farleys as one of the  leading criminal defence firms in the country, of which I am very proud.”
