Actions Against the Police

Solicitor to Sue the Police

Farleys Solicitors LLP specialises in representing people who feel that they have been falsely detained or badly treated by the police. The Legal Services Commission has granted a Legal Aid franchise to Farleys Solicitors LLP to undertake actions against the police from their offices in Blackburn, Burnley and Accrington.

Our solicitors specialise in civil claims against the police and can advise you about how to sue the police and whether you can make a claim for compensation in the following areas:

  • Wrongful Arrest
  • Unlawful Imprisonment
  • Assault
  • Malicious Prosecution
  • Misfeasance in Public Office

In addition we can advise clients at all stages of a police complaint whether this is dealt with locally or through the Independent Police Complaints Commission.

Because we have a franchise to undertake actions against the police, we can advise clients about the availability of public funding at an early stage in their compensation claim. Where public funding is available you may not have to pay any legal fees.

Complaints and Claims Against the Local Authority

Farleys also act for young children who are, or have been, in the care of the local authority and have been subject to failings by them.  This may be in relation to claims for Criminal Injuries Compensation which have not been submitted by the local authority or for claims of negligence against the local authority for their failure to protect or care adequately for the children.  Farleys act closely with the Official Solicitor in these matters where the child is under the age of 18.
